Story

Welcome to "Alarde," the acclaimed restaurant in Osaka's Honmachi district that has captivated gourmands with its extraordinary Basque cuisine. Led by Chef Yoshitsugu Yamamoto, a seasoned professional with a decorated career, "Alarde" invites you to embark on a gastronomic journey that combines the best of Spanish flavors with the freshest seasonal ingredients from Japan. Chef Yamamoto's culinary expertise spans continents. He honed his skills during a six-year tenure at a traditional Japanese restaurant before venturing to Argentina, where he delved into the vibrant local cuisine for three years. Seeking further inspiration, he then ventured to the Basque region of Spain, where he refined his craft at Alameda, a celebrated restaurant that has held the world gourmet guide award for two decades. With his rich experience, Chef Yamamoto returned to Japan, where he honed his skills at various esteemed establishments before finally realizing his dream of opening "Alarde" in early 2016. At "Alarde," prepare to be delighted by the curated nine-course Basque cuisine meal. A highlight is the monthly changing seasonal appetizer taster, an artful arrangement of four dishes served in a charming wooden basket. From marinated fish to gazpacho soup, each bite showcases the restaurant's commitment to quality and creativity. Not to be missed is "Alarde"'s specialty: the Spanish-style "asador" stone kiln, meticulously crafted by skilled Osakan artisans. The meats and seafood cooked over the wood or charcoal fire in this traditional oven are unparalleled, offering a truly exceptional dining experience. End your meal with the Basque-style cheesecake, a delectable dessert that boasts a perfectly crisp exterior and a moist, flavorful center. Complement your culinary journey with a selection of Spanish wines, including the renowned Txakoli, a lightly sparkling wine synonymous with Basque culture. Step into the inviting interior of "Alarde," reminiscent of charming Basque restaurants. With limited seating, including an eight-seat counter facing the open kitchen and tables for two or four, every visit is intimate and memorable. "Alarde" warmly welcomes families on weekdays, creating a relaxed and vibrant atmosphere. Whether you seek a romantic dinner, a sophisticated business gathering, or a memorable family outing, "Alarde" promises an unparalleled dining experience. Immerse yourself in Chef Yamamoto's passion for Basque cuisine, where tradition meets innovation, and every dish tells a captivating story.
